I tried starting up X, opening an xterm with top in it, compiling
a file in another xterm. Top showed free ram going from 4104K to
452K and cached going from 2340K to 2036K before screen updates
stopped and keyboard locked out. I let it thrash for 10 minutes
before hitting reset. [IDE drive, 16MB ram, K6-233.]
