earlier today i wiped my HD clean and installed a fresh slackware 3.4
system. i spent a few hours upgrading everything (as is always needed with
these damn slackware distributions) and compiled 2.1.88. which is what i
ran on my old system. and for some reason it cant mount my root fs. and
no, i dont have any filesystems compiled as modules. here is the error.

Partition check:
hda: driver not present
VFS: Cannot open root device 03:01
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:01

everything is up to date and i have all the required packages for 2.1.x
kernels. if anyone knows anything about how to solve this, your help would
be greatly appreciated. thanks
