a) because it means fixing all the make files
b) because there are a lot of bigger problems right now
c) because linus hasnt applied about 70% of the sound patches I've sent him
since 2.1.82 or so and the kernel sound is way behind still.

Hopefully the feature freeze will mean he can now catch up on those
