PnP, sound and modules

hello,

just searched for a howto about Plug and play but couldn't find anything
meaningful.....

I was just giving another try to get the sound working (without succes) on my
machine.

I have a SB16 that claims itself as PnP card.....

now i enabled the pnp-part of the kernel, is there anywhere info on what it
does and how it works?

this alone doesn't seem to be enough so i reverted using the isapnptools
without more success....

sound is compiled as module, so perhaps this is the problem...
Is there a location where all problems relative to audio are put together?

ciao
