Except that most BIOSes thoroughly trash memory contents when initializing.
(Assuming that the reboot itself doesn't do it anway, eg. by not refreshing
memory contents).

Umm yes, but you'd also have to maintain the changes to the drivers (SCSI?
Network?) you'd have to use to actually do the crash dump. Which is a
_real_ nightmare if your changes aren't integrated.

Assuming they want id badly enough. The current situation seems to be that
every two months or so, somebody says it'd be nice and several other people
immediately point out the difficulties you'd face if you want to put it in.
