hung tasks again

What can be done about tasks that are hanging on a write (to /dev/ttyp0
in my case) and put into uninterruptible sleep? I have seen this
on previous kernel versions but 2.0.33 seems worse.

Is there any way at all of removing them from the task list?

I have asked this before but got no reply, so if you have any helpful
advice at all, please be kind enough to answer. I have not rebooted
yet so that I'll be able to supply details if necessary. Am I missing
something obvious?

Thanks in advance

Kai
