driver level api for sound?

Hi, I'm starting work on a driver that works with the later development
kernels for the Powermac AWACS chipset and was looking for some
information about the sound driver api in the current development kernels.

Is there any documentation, or perhaps someone could gggive me a few
pointers as to what to look for?
