File locking over NFS

Hi all,

What is the current state of play as regards file locking over NFS?

Currently I have -

- kernel 2.1.85
- latest binutils
- new NFS tools courtesy of Olaf

Everything builds and installs OK (with a few typedef changes here and
there), and RPC service seems to be there, but the nlmtest program gets
"nlm_denied_no_locks" for every lock request, whether local or on another
(identically configured) machine. I've had a tramp through the client and
server source but so far I'm clueless as to why this is happening. Once in
a while I'll get "lockd: unauthenticated lock request" or somesuch
appearing in my /var/adm/messages, but not every time, and extra debugging
I added to various files in the lockd directory doesn't produce any output.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Jason
