Kernel Problem 2.0.33

I have been working with the linux kernel ever since 1.2.2, and if there
was a problem that I couldn't fix there was a patch, but now; get this,

the OSS 2.0.33 AWE64 drivers type7 + 2.0.33 + modutils 2.1.71 (and other
apropriate 2.1.* libs etc..) cause a serious problem on a Triton TX 430
motherboard.!!!

at 7:05 this morning (no modules for sound loaded) a loud screchting sound
bellowed through my house from my speakers, hiddious sounds as if someone
put in a data cd into a cdplay and turned the volume up and pressed play.
btw: sunsite cd in the cdrom (yes, its mounted)

Has anyone ever heard of this before?
