I just saw something that *could* be a clue in solving network speed
problems.
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:0.0.0.0 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3584 Metric:1
RX packets:8677 error:0 dropped:0 over:0 frame:0
TX packets:8677 error:0 dropped:0 over:0 carrier:0 coll:0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:F8:03:A9:9D
inet addr:XXX.XX.XXX.XXX Bcast:XXX.XX.XXX.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:133380 error:0 dropped:0 over:0 frame:0
TX packets:133155 error:0 dropped:0 over:0 carrier:0 coll:0
Interrupt:11 Base address:0xe880
Number of eth0 RX/TX packets is suspiciously similar.
I tried downloading a big file, and numbers kept tracking each
other. Same applies to "lo" interface, as you can see.
Hope it helps.
