Hot swap kernel

Evening all

I am sorry if I am the 57th asking for this but it would be great to be able to
hotswap kernels, ie change kernel without needing to reboot.

Something tells me it might be possible to freeze the system, load a new
kernel, delete the old kernel and then just let the new kernel start running
with all old processes..
Some portables have got a feature which is called Hibernated mode. It is about
saving the entire memory, info about processes etc in a file so one is able to
restart the machine without needing to boot the OS. Perhaps something like this
could be used..
I am not much of a coder myself, I just wanted to share a nice idea I got when
reading that mostly reboots in Linux are because off kernel fixing..
