Nope. I am lucky too :). I thought it was a problem with debian scripts.
It seems klogd dies after it's started from /etc/init.d/sysklogd. At
least I can not see it with ps -x after I do
# /etc/init.d/sysklogd restart

Another strange thing I'm seeing since 2.1.7x is that when I do ps -x,
the init process is shown as "init [2". What the hell is the bracket
doing there?
