[2.0.33] EtherExpress Pro 're-entering handler' LOCKUP

Hrm... had a machine go out to lunch on me a few times after tossing
2.0.33 on it, and using the built-in EtherExpress Pro... Turns out it was
spewing 'eth1: Re-entering the interrupt handler' about as fast as it
could...

Hardware is:

PR440FX MB - dual Pentium Pro 200, running SMP kernel
256M RAM
SCSI hard drive
eth0: 3c905 (which I think is broken, so I was trying the other built-in
card)
eth1: Intel EtherExpress Pro

The thing is, everything seems stable now that I threw 2.1.78 on it ;-)
Of course, now that I said that it will crash tonight at 4am and I'll get
paged...

I'm wondering if this has to do with the SMP code? The box didn't
crash/lock up when I had mistakenly compiled 2.0.33 non-SMP...
