Please explain. Are you saying we need quadruple indirection
to go beyond 2GB?

Well... On a 4TB medium, I think nobody would use 512 bytes. Rather
think 4K blocks, and you can beyond that. Somebody made some nice
graphics showing the various dependencies, and the net result was
that 48 bits for the file size are a reasonable next step.
