SCSI still broken in 2.1.76

More accurately, my AHA-1542B and associated 8mm tape drive haven't
functioned properly since 2.1.74. I get all kinds of wonderful messages
about trying to reset the target ID corresponding to the tape drive,
and the host adapter driver complains "interrupt received, but no mail".
The coup de grace is when I try to reboot the machine after attempting
to access the tape drive: in 2.1.75, Oops after Oops after Oops... In
2.1.76, a single Oops before moving onward.
Holding at 2.1.74 and hoping for a fix in 2.1.77.
