relationship of bdflush/kflushd/update

Hi Folx,

I've spent the better part of an afternoon searching and hunting for
information on kflushd, bdflush, and update. I am really confused on what
the status of each of these is in 2.0.30. How do these interact with each
other. From what I understand bdflush has been obeleted because the kernel
now starts kflushd as a kernel thread. What does update do then? How does
it (or does it) interact with kflushd. Should I run update? If so, why?

What, typically does kflushd do?

I am hoping to get this confusion all cleared up.
Thanx,
b.

P.S. Can you CC me directly on any responses to the list? Thanx.
