small problems with mcd and mcdx on audio-cds

Hi all,

I own a Mitsumi Single-speed CDRom (FX001) - it's too slow for data
but very useable to play audio-CD's. (It works ok under Windoze - but
don't say "use Windoze" - I'm right on kicking it out of my machine)
Firmware: F 8 (according to mcdx and mcd)
Adresses: 0x304,10 (original 0x300,5/10 is owned by other ISA-cards
and _not_ changeable)
Driver: mcd/mcdx not as modules
Kernel: 2.0.27 (mcd I tried on 2.1.40 too)

the problem with mcd:
- it doesn't play stereo mode (mono mode only)
with mcdx:
- (workman for example) doesn't see that the disc has been changed
(behaves as if I put in the same CD as before instead scanning for
the current - but scans ok if I restart the program - my guess:
mcdx doesn't report disc-changes but reports open doors)
- after pressing "pause" and then "play" for continuing it holds and
behaves as I had pressed "stop" (guess: bug in resume or pause)

my question: does anybody know in which functions I have to play
around to fix the problem with mcd or those with mcdx - I only want
this state:
my FX001 playing audio-cd's in stereo mode (sounds much better) and
workman behaving correct on pause and new cd's (data-functionality
is not necessary on this drive - therefore I have an ATAPI CDRom)

yours, Konrad
