ELF Questions

Hi Friends;
I would like to try out some of 2.1.x kernels. So I picked 2.1.60
which I think a good one. But I have some problem wit ELF. Who can give me
an info on this topic. I have heard of this quite a lot. Also how can I
check my machine to determine what my kernel are using (a.out/ELF) and so
on.
