Cyrix patch : Proposal?

I just want to check if there's a problem with asking to have the 2.1.39
(but fixed :) cyrix patch included in the kernel?

Are there incompatibilities with non-cyrix systems?
[I haven't encountered any with the two 486's it's also run on]

With all options disabled does it have any impact on the kernel?
(AFAIK : no)

Is the menu structure it offers a little odd perhaps?
[should be acceptable.. :]

Like the AIC-7xxxx driver none of the CPU-specific options should be
enabled unless you're in an experimental mood :)
[but unlike the AIC driver the Cyrix driver explicitly warns you :]

Just want to check if there's any issues related. My system seems to run
faster with it present and certainly is better for userspace software.
(I don't like having software not do pentium optimizations because it
thinks my cpu is a 486.... Very annoying for math-intensive [and
code-intensive CPU-sensitive] code!)

Thanks be to whoever wrote the Cyrix patch!
[please to put name in "Cyrix" or "CREDITS" with patch? :]

This whole business keeps showing up every now and again, ever since the
cyrix 5x86 chips first appeared. Could we all deal with this for once and
for all?
[yes I said 5x86, not 6x86...]

G'day, eh? :)

PS: yes the patch apparently detects (and optimizes) 5x86 too.... but
there's supposedly a better patch for that processor.
