load modules error

Dear Sir:

When I use kernel-2.1.* instead my kernel-2.0.30, I will get a error
"can't locat module char-major-10-135" in boot. Now I use kernel-2.1.59
and change the /etc/rc.d/cdrom to mode 755. When I boot I will get another
error message "can't locate module block-major-15" and "can't locate
module block-major-11". How to solve this?
