Adaptec Fast-Wide & IBM DHFS Drive

All,

I picked up an OEM version of an IBM DFHS S4W drive (aka UltraStar XP);
built for Apple. It's a fast wide single-ended drive, 7200rpm., 4.1GB
capacity. A screamer, but it absolutely refuses to work if tagged
queueing is enabled in the driver.

The machine is a Cyrix 6x86 unit with built-in Adaptec 7880 controller.
The other drive on the bus, a Seagate ST31230W, has always worked fine
with tagged queueing on.

Kernel 2.1.56 boots, the driver probes, finds all the devices correctly,
then blows up with the most rapidly scrolling error messages I've ever
witnessed! There is something in there about "..resetting SCSI bus", and
another message about "..unable to match SCB..", but that's about all I
can make out. Only a red-button reset will bring it back.

With tagged queueing disabled, I can pound on it for days. Does anyone
else have experience with this drive on Adaptec wide-SCSI controllers?

In any case, if any of the aic7xxx driver developers have ideas, let me
know what I can do to capture a screen of data?
