2.1.57 accumulates hung lockd processes

Now that I'm running 2.1.57, my load average keeps going up. Every now and
then, the system creates another process like:

root 242 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? DW 08:13 0:00 (lockd)
root 521 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? DW 08:23 0:00 (lockd)

This didn't happen with 2.1.53, which was my previous version. Everything
seems to work OK anyway...

I did have trouble with rpc.kmountd and rpc.knfsd locking up. The older
(userland) mountd/nfsd seem to work OK.

Any ideas?
