In my (somewhat limited) experience, the Linux box will fare better - we've
had Solaris machines destroy themselves (to the point where they won't even
boot any more) after surprise power failures.

I've *also* had Solaris' fsck die with SIGSEGV after such mundane events
like filling up a partition - *NOT* good.
