A number of patches were posted for a penguin on i386. Since linuxhq
went down, I can't tell you how to get them. (anyone?) I was actually
sad to see that none of them went into Linus's code, but I can't blame
him for not putting it in. I'm sure that Linux's "personality" (as one
of the patch-posters called it) could be better expressed in other ways.
(in addition to being a damn fine operating system)

If someone knows what Linus's reason for turning down those patches was,
you might be able to get them into the official tree. But I wouldn't
hold my breath.
