Strange bug in 2.1.54 and 2.1.55

Both 2.1.54 and 2.1.55 produced a rather strange bug while booting:
Right after initializing the SCSI bus (Adaptec 2940) and waiting for the
15 seconds defined in .config, the screen was filled with numbers in
brackets that passed too fast to read, followed by an automatic reboot.
There is no mention of anything that happened in my syslog or messages
file.
This is a (buggy) AMD K6-233, 64 MB RAM, AHA-2940, TeleS ISDN, GLIBC, PGCC
