2.0.30: Panic and FS corruption after sound card access

I had an application sending 16 bit stereo data to /dev/audio at 32kHz
(OSS was using two fragments of 32Kb). At a certain point it stopped
with following messages in syslog:

Aug 6 14:50:42 pris kernel: Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ

Aug 6 14:52:08 pris kernel: Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ
config error?

Then, when trying to load something into the GUS RAM:

Aug 6 14:55:34 pris last message repeated 29 times

I rebooted the machine and got a kernel panic (log excerpts in the end
of this message). Bringing the system up with floppy showed severe
corruption in the IDE hard disk. It can be a hardware fault, but I'm not
sure.

The system appears to be OK now.
