I belive there was also a patch around that avoids the 'must specify fs
type' message when mouting a jaz that hasn't spun up (or was sleeping)
before trying to mount it.

Will that make it to .31?

I'd be happy to test the patch you mention, but can't find it at linuxhq.
THere have only been a few ext2 patches, that I see, since late 96..
