Don't use 2.1.44. You could really regret it. If you are using 2.1.44,
downgrade and run FS checkers on your partitions immediately. (i.e. e2fsck)
But this is alpha/beta software, so stuff like this is expected.

Are this and the symbolic link problems (2.1.46) fixed yet?
