The drive/BIOS probably is defaulting to mode0.
Linux sees this, assumes you may have done it for a reason,
and leaves it alone, and does not use DMA on that drive by default.

Feel free to turn it on yourself with:

hdparm -X34 -d1 /dev/hd?
