I am new on the list. I have some filesystem error that
I think it is introduced by kernel bugs. I installed my
linux by Slackware 3.2 with Service Pack 2. Then, I compiled
kernel version 2.1.43 by the following software version:
modutils 2.1.23
gcc 2.7.2.1
binutils 2.8.1.0.1
libc 5.4.23
ld.so 1.8.10
sh-utils 1.12
There is no errors during compiling kernel and modules.
But after doing something like:
mv foo/ foo.orig/
tar zxf foo.tar.gz
There are some filesystem error occured. The error message
is like:
shell-init: could not get current directory: getwd:
cannot access parent directories
Then I need to do fsck to correct these problems. I tried
to upgrade my system with the following software (but not
re-compile my kernel):
modutils 2.1.34
ld.so 1.9.2
sh-utils 1.16
But the problem is still there. Is there anyone who could
help me solve this?
By the way, what is the most stable 2.1.x kernel by now?
I need a stable kernel to test IPv6-related software.
