SCSI disk spin down

I have a patch for some older linux systems.
The patch is for 1.3.89, but i have applied it on newer systems.
My problem is that i can not get it to work properly with
the newest kernels. I spins down in a correct way, but
the kernel craches when i try to spinup the disk again.
Is there any patches for newer kernels ?

The one I have adds an extra scsi ioctl for spin down, and looks at the
error messages from the scsi disk to spin up. And it also have
an ioctl to see how long it have been idle. There is also an
deamon the uses the ioctls to control the spin down.
Any one knows this patch ?
