2.1.41 deep freeze

got my first reproducible solid lock with 2.1.41
while writing to a parport disk (shark250)

if you do a "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/epa1 bs=1024 count=100"
it freezes as shortly after it starts to swap. If i use a count of 50
everything works just fine (i have 80 meg + 32M swap and no X running)

It seems that the machine just runs out of memory. No proof - no log .
