Hello,
I know this is an offtopic, but I need help from you ppl.
I have bought a new ST32132A, 2 Gig HD. I have test it doing:
cp -r -d -x /var/ /mnt/test1
(35000 files/220 Megs in /var)
diff -u -r --new-file /var/ /mnt/test1/
and it returned me some diffs. Of course it should not.
For example:

Binary files /var/ftp/pub/linux/kernel/v2.0/v2.0.3.tar.gz and
/mnt/test1/ftp/pub/linux/kernel/v2.0/v2.0.3.tar.gz differ

It is wrong. I can not work with an unreliable disk !!!

The disk is ide1/One Drive Only (Only disk on the ide1).
The disks configuration is:

MB: Tyan Tomcat IIID

ide0/Master: QUANTUM LPS270A (Quantum 270 Megs), CHS
ide0/Slave: ST51080A (Seagate 1 Gig), LBA
ide1/One Drive Only: ST32132A (Seagate Medalist 2 Gig), LBA

Is someone knowing if there is some incompatibility between these drives ?
Hmmm I have alredy take the decision to return the ST32132A to the shop
for a replace because I have the suspect that this drive is broken, but
I want to know if the problem is the drive broken or some incompatibility
that can show up with this model. In the second case, I have to replace
the drive with a new, different, one and not with a new, same model, one.

PS: I have tried the disk with different configs too. For example I havbe
tried ST32132A Master/CDROM Slave, CDROM Master/ST32132A Slave,
ST51080A Master/ST32132A Slave. No one of this configs are working
correctly.

Hmmm I feel I'm so lucky with Hardware !! :)

Ciao,
Riccardo.
