It is still there in 2.1.39.
It is not related to the mouse - the key factor is "terminal activity".
Moving the mouse is just one possible way of getting this.
I was able to get it when I was hitting for several minutes Caps-Lock, while
running
yes "Linux 2.1.39" on VT + some compilation.
Is is much more efficient in Xwindows - running "yes" in an Xterm and hitting
CapsLock several times.
The freeze always takes 10 s. Even after I have changed HZ from 100 to 160
and recompiled 2.1.39.
I did not write, that I am using Matrox Millenium 4 MB graphics adapter.
For complete information, I am using "gpm -t PS/2 -R" .
