248 is a 'magic' ipx number?

Having a slight problem or possibly running into a limit for ipx
connections.

I'm running mars_nwe v0.98pl10 on a Linux kernel v2.0.30 box right
now...I've got mars compiled to allow 310 users online, however...it seems
at user 248, it stops taking connections...

could it be I'm running out of ipx sockets, or should I just go away and bug
the linware listserv more? :)
