LinuX-2.1.38 - problem during compiling!

Hello all,

recently, I've got the new Kernel 2.1.38 sources. They compile OK, as
long as you do not enable CONFIG_MODVERSIONS.
Since some modules require this enabled, it is very annoying to get this
message after activating CONFIG_MODVERSIONS with 'make config':

Gerd:/usr/src/linux# make dep

make[1]: Nothing to be done for `dep'.

Seems to be an option for genksyms that it doesn't recognize.
But what is option -k for and where can I change this? My genksyms only
recognizes options -g -w -q -d -D.
Do I need a newer version of genksyms?

Thanks for any hint in advance and best regards
