Linus,
Here is a very minimum system that crashes upon boot.

CONFIG_MODULES=y
CONFIG_NET=y
CONFIG_PCI=y
CONFIG_SYSVIPC=y
CONFIG_BINFMT_AOUT=y
CONFIG_BINFMT_ELF=y
CONFIG_M586=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_FD=y
CONFIG_INET=y
CONFIG_SCSI=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD=y
CONFIG_CHR_DEV_ST=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SR=y
CONFIG_SCSI_AIC7XXX=y
CONFIG_EXT2_FS=y
CONFIG_PROC_FS=y
CONFIG_ISO9660_FS=y
CONFIG_VT=y
CONFIG_VT_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_SERIAL=y

The exception occurs at 10:<c01a3d69> Which _does_not_exist(tm). The
"code" at this point is sometimes text-strings. It depends upon whether
or not the machine was cold or warm-booted.

I can't find any evidence that your new "text.lock" section exists within
the kernel image. I guessed that there may be a problem with the tools
so I changed its name (including within the link-file). It made no
difference.

Cheers,
Dick Johnson
