Here are some problems I am having with 2.1.36. ( Note: I tried with and
without SMP, and all the things below work fine with 2.1.29 - which by the
way is the last kernel I can use without getting an Ext2-fs panic while
using the zip drive "ppa.o + parport.o" ). I have replaced some actual
info below with "???".

1) Using zip(ppa) drive causes Ext2-fs panic. ( I have mailed before about
this so I
won't say more here. )

2) Sendmail stops working. Here is a line from the log file:

> Apr 25 19:57:29 genera sendmail[189]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR: \
> putoutmsg (math): error on output channel sending "220 genera.genera.net \
> ESMTP Sendmail 8.8.5/8.8.5; Fri, 25 Apr 1997 19:57:29 -0700": Input/output error

3) Sshd breaks. Here is a line from the log file:

> Apr 25 20:10:53 genera sshd[245]: log: Connection from 128.32.???.??? port ???
> Apr 25 20:10:53 genera sshd[245]: fatal: Could not write ident string.

4) Cfingerd breaks. Here is a line from the log file:

> Apr 25 20:15:24 genera in.cfingerd[275]: connect from durban.berkeley.edu
> Apr 25 20:15:25 genera cfingerd[275]: rfc1413-connect: Connection refused

5) Only tty1 - tty3 work ( mgetty ). Here is a line from the log file:

> Apr 25 20:08:58 genera login[100]: unable to change tty `/dev/tty4' for user `??????'
> Apr 25 20:09:24 genera login[239]: unable to change tty `/dev/tty4' for user `??????'
> Apr 25 20:09:33 genera login[101]: unable to change tty `/dev/tty5' for user `??????'
> Apr 25 20:09:40 genera login[241]: unable to change tty `/dev/tty5' for user `??????'

6) pmap_set breaks. Here is a line from the log file:

> Apr 25 18:35:19 genera inetd[64]: pmap_set: 100005 1 17 1027: Connection refused
> Apr 25 18:35:19 genera inetd[64]: pmap_set: 100002 1 17 1029: Connection refused
> Apr 25 18:35:19 genera inetd[64]: pmap_set: 100002 2 17 1029: Connection refused
> Apr 25 18:35:19 genera inetd[64]: pmap_set: 100002 3 17 1029: Connection refused
> Apr 25 18:35:19 genera inetd[64]: pmap_set: 100008 1 17 1031: Connection refused
