Im poking at this at little in a variant form. The PC110 has a 4Mb
battery backed ram disk and a PCMCIA hard disk. What I want to do
is to use the ram disk as a write buffer to the physical media to
lower battery use.

You can buy somthing similar for Sun NFS server boxen, it's
essentially NVRAM. It allows an NFSv2 server to ack a write before
flushing it entirely to disk.
