Lousy net performance?

I'm getting very lousy net performance on 2.0.29 machine with firewalling
support and 3com590. It gets only 115kB/s through local ethernet, though
between two 2.0.27 (same netcard, no firewalling, little bit slower
processor) i get 900kB/s. Could this be about the new 3com590 driver, or
is it the firewalling code?
