1284 bidirectional printer port driver?

A few weeks ago someone sent out an announcement that they were working
on a 1284 bidrectional parallel port driver. Could someone resend that
to me, please?
There's a student in my department whose thesis depends on being able to
read printer status out from a HP printer. Thanks!!
