Soft reset

Linux just did a soft reset - no warning, no error messages in the log
files. It was just like a ctrl-alt-delete under DOS. There were no kernel
panics or anything similar before the crash.

System is a 486dx2-66 running X (XFree86-3.1.1), Linux v2.0.28, most
things in as modules. Basic system was RedHat v2.1, but it has been
upgraded a lot since then.
PPP v2.2.0f was running (+ downloading a file through NCFTP), on an
internal modem w/16550A, at 115200 bps.

The applications running apart from daemons were about 5 shells, 3 gettys,
top and tail -f /var/log/messages, X11 w/fvwm-95, xfig.

I can mail the linux .config file and anything else that would help. This
also happened when I was trying to install the Japanese Extensions, under
kon, the Kanji under VGA terminal emulator (screen went blank, about 5
minutes later a reset happened). news.daily was running as root.
