Some problems with 2.1.x........

Hello people I am having problems with 2.1.x.....

I can't get any kernel past 2.1.17 to compile.

the make config gets stuck at a Sound Blaster address and never stops.

on bootup, I get route forgot to specify route netmask.

so, what's the problem?
