I have just patched from 2.0.0 to 2.0.24. I have checked the .rej's
all the way (just the alpha and sparc patches complaining about bits of
the source tree I don't have) and I have made clean and made dep OK.
At the moment I have a failed compile on the screen and I am reporting
it while it is there ...

gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2
-fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strength-reduce -pipe -m486 -malign-loops=2
-malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o traps.o traps.c
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2
-fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strength-reduce -pipe -m486 -malign-loops=2
-malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o irq.o irq.c
irq.c:583: macro `ACK_FIRST' used with just one arg
make[1]: *** [irq.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.0.24/arch/i386/kernel'
make: *** [linuxsubdirs] Error 2

.. now I'll go away and investigate what is up. This is gcc 2.7.2 (elf)
compiling a pretty standard kernel under libc 5.4.9 with IDE and sound.
