The main reason why I have no hard drive in my machine is the noise
it makes. I have my machine in my living room and like listening
music. The server is located in another room. Even there I spinn
down the drive afer a timeout of 20s. The new syslogd helped me
to reduce the spin ups significantly (thanks a lot!!).

My machine is one of the famouse 'network computer'. It costs
less than $500 (including software!!!), runs Java and is
easy to use.
