noatime support in kernel?

Hi there

Usenet News is a pig. There's some patches for INN floating around now that
reduce Usenet's I/O problems via a kernel patch that stops the OS doing
atime updates on news article files. This leads to a 30% speedup in I/O.
There are apparently quite a few sites running such patches now, and I've
heard Sun is considering adding support for disabling atime for such reasons.

Are there any plans to make this part of the Linux kernel?

[there's also another patch for directly accessing files by their inodes...]
