With some MO drives, there is a magic cookie that you need to send
the thing before the drive will be accessible. There are some things in
scsi.c where we send this cookie for some IOMEAGA drives - you could start
by taking a look to see whether this is being used with this drive or not.
If not, it is worth a try to try and send this cookie and see whether that
does the trick.
