No Alpha magic involved. This is all ordinary GNU libc stuff. So
far Linux for Alpha, Intel, MIPS and 68k runs the same libc as well
as Hurd. Linux/Sparc should be on the way (Miguel?)

Guess why I've choosen GNU libc for Linux/MIPS: it's clean code that
was alsmost a fingersnap to port.
