That reveals the problem:

If your mouse is attached to com1, it is obviously a SERIAL mouse. Therefore
you need to configure IN the serial driver. You also might as well
configure OUT bus mouse drivers, since you don't have a bus mouse. Then
just make sure that /dev/mouse points to /dev/ttyS0 and that everything
references either /dev/mouse or /dev/ttyS0 and tries to use the Microsoft
