2.0.0 & SCSI CD-ROM: media problems

Some good news: Kernel 2.0.0 does no longer hang the computer if a
defective CD is in my SCSI CD-ROM drive (Toshiba XM-5301TA).
Unfortunately I don't get verbose SCSI messages, even when
configured. I just get some magic numbers like:

23:03:28 elf kernel: ^ISense class 7, sense error 0, extended sense 3
23:03:28 elf kernel: SCSI error: host 0 id 2 lun 0 return code = 28000002

Also when I try to "read" an audio CD with "dd if=/dev/cdrom" I get:

23:06:02 elf kernel: SCSI CD error : host 0 id 2 lun 0 return code = 28000002
23:06:02 elf kernel: extra data not valid Current error sr0b:00: sense key Blank Check

The above message looks a bit misformatted; shoudn't "Current error" begin
a new line?

23:06:02 elf kernel: Additional sense indicates Illegal mode for this track
23:06:02 elf kernel: CD-ROM I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 0

I thought that my CD drive could deliver raw audio data. I don't understand
the "Blank Check" here.

I'm currently not subscribed to the kernel list; if someone thinks
he/she found something, please also send me a copy of your statements.

Thank you,
Ulrich
